Jakar is a town located in the central eastern region of Bhutan. It is the capital of Bumthang District and home to Jakar Dzong, the regional fortress. The town is situated at an altitude of 2,587 m (8,488 ft). The town had a population of 6,243 in 2017. There are several important Buddhist sacred sites near the town.
