Kurjey Lhakhang is a significant religious site located in the Bumthang Valley in central Bhutan, near the town of Jakar. It holds great religious significance for Bhutanese Buddhists. The temple complex is associated with Guru Rinpoche, also known as Padmasambhava, the Indian saint who played a key role in introducing Buddhism to Bhutan in the 8th century.
- Location: Kurjey Lhakhang is situated in the Choekhor Valley, which is one of the most historic and sacred valleys in Bhutan. It is approximately 10 kilometers from the town of Jakar.

- Kurjey Lhakhang Complex: The complex consists of three main temples. The oldest temple, known as the Guru Lhakhang or Kurjey Lhakhang, is a cave where Guru Rinpoche meditated and left his body imprint on a rock. The second temple, the Ka Gon Phur Sum Lhakhang, houses statues of Guru Rinpoche and other deities. The third temple, known as the New or Kurjey Lhakhang, was built in 1984 under the patronage of the Queen Mother.

- Guru Rinpoche's Body Imprint: The main attraction of Kurjey Lhakhang is the sacred body imprint of Guru Rinpoche, which is preserved in a cave-like structure. Pilgrims and visitors come to pay their respects to this sacred site.

- Annual Tsechu Festival: Like many other Bhutanese monasteries and lhakhangs, Kurjey Lhakhang celebrates an annual religious festival known as a tsechu. Tsechus are vibrant events featuring traditional masked dances, religious rituals, and cultural performances.

- Surrounding Natural Beauty: The lhakhang is set against a backdrop of lush greenery and offers a serene environment for meditation and contemplation. The surrounding landscape adds to the spiritual ambiance of the site.

- Visiting Information: When visiting Kurjey Lhakhang, it's advisable to dress modestly, and it is often customary to circumambulate the temple in a clockwise direction. Visitors may also have the opportunity to interact with monks and experience the spiritual atmosphere of the place.
